Guinea Pigs Cage: Keeping it Indoors
The below are things to watch when considering the location of your guinea pigs cage.
Laundry
If you think that your guinea pig can actually live well inside the laundry room, then think again. Because of the constant shifts in temperature in there, as well as the humidity, you will just be making your pet ill. Moreover, a laundry room is usually not suitable as far as environment is concerned. Hence, you will just be preventing people from staying with your pet.
Garage
Now, if you are still considering another place for your pet to serve as its habitat, the garage is not a good option. Even if this is connected to your home, keeping your guinea pig there will only inhibit giving them the suitable care and attention they need.
Floor
Also, do not let them stay on the floor. If you really want it to be safe and well taken cared of, do not put the ‘floor’ on your checklist.
Nevertheless, as you care for your pet, you must be aware that there are techniques to consider in every procedure you do. Thus, in feeding, you must either sit on a flat surface or bend over. This more likely allows children to have easier contact with it. They usually would want to play with it. However, they just have to be very careful in handling the guinea pig, for they are prone to falling or hurting them if they do not practice cautiousness.

Vibrations
Aside from this, you must also take note that guinea pigs are very receptive to vibrations. Various types of movements such as your footsteps will normally scare your pet. Thus, it may be hard to deal with them if you are not careful. Besides this, if you have other pets at your home, this may be a factor to add more stress to your guinea pig.
Lighting
Another thing to consider is about the lighting. Never place your pet in dark and enclosed areas. Do not let them stay in bathrooms, basements, and other spots where there is not enough light. Even if you are used to placing some of your items there, never store the pet there.
Child’s Room
Last, but certainly not the least, experts adviseg never to place the pet inside a child’s room. Their reasons behind this are due to the possibility that the child may not be taking adequate care of the guinea pig, or perhaps, because it is isolated in the room, it is really isolated to the family. With this, many animal rescue centers prohibit adopting such pet if they learn that you have a plan of placing it in the child’s room.
Now these matters may seem very strict, but when you think about it, these are just measures to consider the welfare of your most beloved guinea pig. It is better to be safe than sorry, isn’t it?
